guitarhero.com

Apparently Activision wasn’t ready for all the people that would be playing Guitar Hero 3 online as their website guitarhero.com has been really behind in updating player’s scores along with being an incredibly slow website. They seem to have gotten their act together since my career scores are now online. You can check out my profile at http://www.guitarhero.com/accounts/259846. My Guitar Hero 3 friend code is 2191 5873 1681. I also setup a tour group called House of Horrors. Any of you playing GH3 online need to join my tour group. Send me your friend code too so we can play online. It would be nice to actually play against a person I know rather than some random dude/chic. I have no problem holding my own on Medium but Hard is still kicking my butt. I just can’t get used to that fifth button. Curse the orange button!

I played Super Mario Galaxy a bit last night. Seems like it will be a fun game. Had to update the software on my mod chip as Nintendo implement some new kind of protection on that game. The mod chip guys didn’t waste any time putting out a working update so that was a big waste of time on Nintendo’s part. I guess you can’t blame them for trying.

I also got Manhunt 2 which is supposed to just be insane! It originally got an Adult Only rating and none of the major consoles will release titles with that rating. So they had to trim the violence back. But from the reviews I read, it’s still pretty gruesome. I’m sure at some point the original version of this will get leaked for all us mod chip users.

4 years and going strong

Today marks the four year anniversary for Marie & I. It was only fitting that we got married on Halloween, our favorite holiday. I can’t believe four years have went by already. It’s true when they say the older you get the faster the time goes by. I’m taking the day off from work and Marie’s mom is watching Ethan overnight tonight and most of tomorrow so we can have the day to ourselves. We went out for dinner tonight and then saw A Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D. I’ve never seen that movie from start to finish so it was good to finally see it, especially on the big screen. Marie had never been to a 3D movie so it was hilarious watching her freak out to things flying at her.

I have to say that I have some of the greatest in-laws that a guy could ask for. For our anniversary, Marie’s parents gave us a check for $1,000, to which I wouldn’t accept but they wouldn’t take no for an answer. This will definitely come in handy since we need to replace our flat roof which is going to cost us around $3,300. And if that wasn’t already enough, when we came home today from work, Marie’s mom had put bags of gifts in almost every room of our house. We got tons of household items such as toilet paper, paper towel, diapers, shampoo/conditioner, soap, towels, razor blades, and even cashews. How awesome is that!?!?

My sister had a birthday/halloween party for my niece Chelsea this past weekend and we dressed up as the Rubble’s. I was Barney, Marie was Betty and Ethan was Bamm Bamm (picture coming soon). Marie’s friend Rachael helped us make the costumes and they turned out really good. I’ll be using my costume once more this coming weekend for Rick’s Halloween party on Saturday.

Guitar Hero 3

The first time I played Guitar Hero was over at Marc’s house a couple of months ago on his Xbox. I was instantly hooked but since I didn’t own a PS2 or Xbox I was gonna have to wait until October 28th when it was released for the Wii. I picked it up from Meijer this past Sunday and I’ve got about 8 hours logged into it. I even manged to complete the Career mode on Easy, tho comparing my score on the leader board made me feel like less of a man.

The great thing about this version is the online play. And with the Wii, online play is free (take that Xbox!). I played a few battles online and seeing some of these people play on the difficult modes likes it’s nothing is just insane! Now I just need my fellow Wii owners to pick this game up so we can battle each other online (hint hint Aaron, James & Pete). It’s always more fun to play against someone you know - especially when you whoop their ass.

I also picked up Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party when that came out about two months ago. That game is a riot too - and gives you quite the work out! Marie gets the biggest kick out of watching me play that. I just wish the music selection was better. I was really hoping for a Kylie Minogue song but no dice.

Music Box Massacre Part 3

This weekend Rick, Joe 2, Pickles and myself met up with Jeremy, Louis & Jason B in Chicago for Music Box Massacre Part 3 - a 24 hour horror movie marathon. The marathon was hosted by Rusty Nails and featured the Coffin Banger, Chicago’s only monster music DJ. It started at 12pm on Saturday and would go until 12pm on Sunday. Fourteen movies back to back, with a few old school trailers thrown in between. Here’s the set list in order of appearance:

The Cat and the Canary (1927)
Freaks (1932)
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948)
Equinox (1971)
Peeping Tom (1960)
The Monster Squad (1987)
Demons 2 (1987)
Videodrome (1983)
Halloween 3: Season of the Witch (1982)
The Raven (1963)
It’s Alive (1974)
Deathdream (1974)
The Demonology of Desire (short film by editor of Rue Morgue magazine)
The Shining (1980)

And I’m not talking DVD’s being projected on a big screen, these were the original theatrical film prints (minus the short film The Demonology of Desire). They started the marathon with The Cat and the Canary, a classic b&w silent film. The best part of this movie was that there was live organ music to accompany it. Talk about kicking it old school. This was definitely one of my highlights of the marathon. The organist was amazing and by the applause he received at the end of the movie, everyone else felt the same way.

Being able to see prints of Videodrome, Demons 2, Peeping Tom, Monster Squad and Halloween 3 was just unreal. Most of the prints were in really good shape too, especially Halloween 3. The print for Deathdream was really red but was still cool to see this Bob Clark classic on the big screen. Equinox had us all cracking up too many times to count. I’ve gotta get a copy of that flick. I’d seen Freaks on the big screen already at the 24 hour marathon in Ohio a few years back but it was cool to see it again.

Fred Dekker (director of Monster Squad, Night of the Creeps, Robocop 3) was on hand and did a Q&A session with Rusty Nails after they played Monster Squad. Coralina Catalina Tassoni (actress who was in Demons 2, Opera and Mother of Tears) was also on hand and was giving away free pictures and autographs in the lobby. What a sweetie. She also did a Q&A session with Rusty Nails after Demons 2.

I managed to stay awake for all the films, only nodding off for a few minutes here and there towards the end of the marathon. The worst part was my lower back was killing me and being crammed in those theatre seats was not helping. Luckily Jason came to my rescue with ibuprofen. The only bad part of the marathon was some punk kid and three chics took our good seats during one of the breaks. After Jeremy tried to get him to move, I stepped in and went back and forth with this dude for like 5 minutes. He just wasn’t moving. Most of the seats had our stuff in them but he moved some of them down into other seats to make room for himself and the 3 other people that were with him. I came really close to punching the asshole in the face but knew if I did that I would be kicked out. We talked to Rusty Nails about the situation but he wasn’t any help as he didn’t want to make a scene. We managed to eventually find some better seats after the next movie so it was only a temporary let down. Rick & I kept hoping we would see the asshole outside so we could show him how we really felt. With little sleep and tons of caffeine, I was ready to throw down.

From the moment I woke up Saturday morning to the time I got home and crashed on Sunday, I was up for just over 36 hours. It was a great time and I look forward to next years massacre.

The impossible has happened…

Yes, that is correct, it’s a Centipede arcade game in Marie & I’s bedroom. And Marie was the one that suggested it. How friggen cool is that?!?! I think my arcade collecting obsession is starting to rub off on her.

Oh yeah, that black blob on the right is our dog Hailey.
