Stop everything, kill hannah
The last two weeks have been insanely busy at work. I’ve put in over 55 hours on a big project at the Girl Scouts alone. On top of client work, I’ve got a bunch of other ‘internal’ projects like setting up the new lab computers. These have been long overdue for replacement. The computers in there now are Pentium 2 266mhz machines running Windows NT! The new ones are Dell Pentium 4 3Ghz desktops with 1GB of RAM, CD & DVD burners and 17″ LCD monitors with DVI. It seems a shame that these are going in the lab for use by the members instead of staff.
Marc got out of the hospital on Monday afternoon around 3pm. He went back to work on Wednesday. I talked to him a bit and he seems to be recovering pretty well. I was relieved to hear that things went ok at his work while he was away. I know he was really worried about that. He said he’s still down with going to see Kill Hannah next week. This one is at the Shelter in Detriot. Marc, Christina, Marie & I are going down for the show.
As I type this I’m watching the Butterfly Effect. It’s gotta couple of those kind of scenes where you go “whoah, damn”. It’s definately peaked my interested. We’ll see how it turns out.
The joys of fishing
Marie & I went up to the cottage Saturday afternoon. We spent the night and stayed until around 7pm Sunday. On Saturday, Shawn, Steve and I went fishing and we caught around 12 nice size bass and a couple of specs. We were catching them one right after another. It was a riot! I had just purchased a new lure and it was really proving itself. Unfortunately, I lost it later that day when the line broke after casting it. I need to put a higher pound line on that pole the next time I’m up.
Sunday was a really nice day at the cottage. Marie and I spent over an hour just relaxing in the water. Our dog Brecken can’t get enough of the water when she is there. As long as you are in the water, she will do circles around you all day. She also enjoys chomping at all the water bubbles. It’s pretty darn funny to watch.
After getting home from the cottage, we grabbed a vase and then went to Meijer’s to get a card, some flowers and a really cute Eeyore for Marc. It was after visiting hours so we had to go in the emergency entrance. We were just going to drop it off at the desk but they gave us “Guest” passes and directions to his room, which was all the way on the other side of the hospital. I was a little nervous about going in because when I talked to him earlier he didn’t want any visitors. The hopsital staff was really encouraging us to go in so we did. He was feeling much better from when I had talked to him last. Marie & I sat with him for almost an hour. The good news is he was supposed to leave on Monday. I called up to his room today but nobody answered. I’ll give him a call tomorrow and see how everything is going. I&;m really glad he finally got health insurance on July 1st. He would owe well over $10,000 if he didn’t. Ouch.
Fashionably late…
So here it is 11:30pm on a Friday night and I’m back at work after already working a 9 hour day. Less than 1 mile from my work is a party going that I should be attending. Unfortunately I had to upgrade my boss’ computer and it’s taking longer than I thought it would (doesn’t everything?). Oh well, I’m just about done and I’ll arrive to the party ‘fashionably late’. Yeah, like I know anything about fashion.
I found out today that Marc is in the hospital because his appendix burst the other day. I’ve heard that is some of the worst pain you can experience. I talked to him a bit on the phone today but he sounded pretty out of it. I’m sure he’s all dosed up on various drugs. He said he doesn’t want any visitors but I’d really like to go see him. Regardless, Marie & I will be sending up something to his room tomorrow to help cheer him up.
Get well soon Marc. We love you.
I, Robot
Aaron & I went to a sneak peak of I, Robot tonight. It wasn’t a bad movie on the eyes, tho it didn’t do much for the mind. I really wish Hollywood would quit spending so much $$ on bigger and better car chases and explosions (not that those aren’t fun as I enjoy them from time to time) and hire some decent writers who don’t think the general public are a bunch of morons and can’t figure out a movie without it being spelled out to them. Aaron and I joked about a title for the sequel: We, Robot.
I think I still have water in my ear from swimming last weekend at the cottage. I went toobing and I wiped out pretty good. Since then I have this constant feeling of ’something liquid’ in my ear. It doesn’t hurt but it’s starting to drive me nuts. I used some solution to get it out and it seemed to work for a day but now it’s back again. Argh.
Thank GOD tomorrow/today is Friday. It’s been a crazy busy week and I’m really looking forward to just relaxing up at the lake with a fishing pole and a 12 pack of Killians.
