debaser.net upgrade

Earlier this week I moved debaser.net over to a new box I put together (AMD Athlon 2800 with 512MB RAM). The spam I was receiving on my old box was getting out of hand and the software was outdated. Instead of trying to update an existing install, it made more sense for me to setup a new box with a newer version of netqmail and spamassassin. The switch over went pretty smoothly and the amount of spam hitting my inbox has dropped to less than 1%. I just need to work out an issue with user prefs for spamassassin via mysql and I’ll be all set.

This weekend Marie & I are heading down to Indiana to pickup an Afterburner cockpit I won off from ebay for a good price. I think the last time I played the sitdown version was at Cedar Point years ago. Everything works except for the monitor but that should be an easy fix. This one is too big to fit in the house so out in the garage it goes - all 950 pounds of it. I sold my Asteroids upright to a guy out in Middleville last week which helped make room out in the garage for the new addition. I let it go for less than I wanted to but I still made a decent chunk of change off from it, which paid for the Afterburner cockpit and then some.

Marie & I stayed at the Double JJ ranch this past weekend, which is about an hour north west of Grand Rapids. Marie’s dad won a two day, one night stay at the ranch in a deluxe cabin. Him and his wife didn’t want to go so they gave it to us. We had a full kitchen and living room with fireplace, two full bath’s and a jacuzzi right in our bedroom. I felt like we should have invited a bunch of people over to really make use of the place. On Sunday we went horseback riding and hung out at the pool that had a 150 foot slide. You would grab a tube and walk up four floors of stairs to get to the top. The first time I went backwards all the way down! Everytime Marie went down I could hear her scream. It was nice to get away for two days and just relax.

Ethan is going to be a year old in less than 2 weeks. He’s pulling himself up on furniture and getting into all kinds of things. Today we had to lower his crib down to the lowest setting as he is now able to stand up in it by grabbing the bars and pulling himself up. It’s funny because he gets so frustrated when he can’t quite pull himself up onto something. He can be quite impatient. I guess he gets that from his dad.

He got his first cold this week, runny nose and all. Marie tried to give him some medicine this morning as he was carrying on and he threw up all over. After that he was fine for the rest of the day, minus the runny nose. Oh, the joys of being a parent!
